Astro 7.0 ออกมาแล้วครับ และรอบนี้เป็น release ที่น่าสนใจมาก
ไฮไลต์ของเวอร์ชันนี้คือ ทีมยกเครื่องส่วนหลัก (core internals) ไปเขียนใหม่ด้วย Rust โดยโฟกัสที่เรื่องความเร็วเป็นหลัก ใครที่ทำเว็บแล้วเคยบ่นว่า build ช้า หรือ dev server หน่วงๆ รอบนี้น่าจะถูกใจ เพราะทั้ง build ที่เร็วขึ้นและ dev server ที่ตอบสนองไวขึ้นคือสิ่งที่เขาดันเต็มที่ในเวอร์ชันนี้
เอาจริงๆ ส่วนตัวผมใช้ Astro ทำอยู่หลายโปรเจกต์ พอเห็นว่าโฟกัสเรื่อง performance ขนาดนี้ก็เลยตื่นเต้นพอสมควรครับ แผนคือจะทยอยย้ายเว็บเดิมของตัวเองขึ้น 7.0 ดูทีละตัว แล้วดูว่าจะพังตรงไหนบ้าง การ migrate framework ข้าม major version มันมักมีจุดที่ต้องแก้อยู่แล้ว แต่ถ้าแลกมากับความเร็วระดับนี้ ผมว่าคุ้มที่จะลองครับ

The headline this time: the team rewrote the core internals in Rust, with a strong focus on speed. If you’ve ever grumbled about slow builds or a sluggish dev server, this one is for you — faster builds and a snappier dev server are exactly what they pushed hard on in this version.
Honestly, I already use Astro across several projects, so seeing this much emphasis on performance has me pretty excited. The plan is to migrate my own existing sites to 7.0 one by one and see what breaks along the way. Moving a framework across a major version usually means a few things need fixing — but if the trade-off is speed at this level, I think it’s well worth a try.
